Here is the honest answer: Rockstar has not published official GTA 6 system requirements, because the game is only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it launches on November 19, 2026.
That does not mean you are stuck guessing. For consoles, the rules are simple. For PC and gaming laptops, a report says the wait may be short, and we can make smart estimates from the hardware. Below, I split what is confirmed, what is reported, and what is just our best guess, so you always know which is which.
- GTA 6 is confirmed for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 19, 2026.
- There are no official PC requirements. Rockstar has not announced a PC version.
- A GamesBeat report says PC is planned for January to March 2027. It is not confirmed.
- The PS5 download is reportedly 210GB, but Rockstar has not confirmed the size.
- Preloading starts November 12. Watch for real PC specs if and when a PC date is announced.
Quick Answer: What Do You Need for GTA 6?
If you only want the short version, this table covers it. The GTA 6 pre-order guide has the price and edition details.
| Platform | Status | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 / PS5 Pro | Confirmed, Nov 19, 2026 | The console and about 210GB free (reported) |
| Xbox Series X|S | Confirmed, Nov 19, 2026 | The console and free space (size not announced) |
| PC / gaming laptop | Not announced | No official specs yet. See our estimates below |
| PS4 / Xbox One | Not listed | Rockstar only lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S |
GTA 6 Requirements on PS5 and Xbox
This part is easy. On consoles there is no “minimum” or “recommended” list. If you own the right console, you can play. GTA 6 is built for the current generation, so you need a PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.
The PlayStation Store also marks the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced. Sony has not spelled out exactly what that means yet, so I will not guess the details. Here is how the four consoles compare on paper:
| Console | CPU | Memory | GPU power | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | 8-core Zen 2 | 16GB | ~10.3 TF | 825GB SSD |
| PS5 Pro | 8-core Zen 2 | 16GB | ~16.7 TF | 2TB SSD |
| Xbox Series X | 8-core Zen 2 | 16GB | ~12.2 TF | 1TB SSD |
| Xbox Series S | 8-core Zen 2 | 10GB | ~4 TF | 512GB SSD |
Why does this matter for PC players? Because these consoles are the target hardware. Whatever Rockstar builds for them tells us what a PC will probably need later.
File Size and Storage: Clear Space Now
GTA 6 is going to be big. A data-miner who tracks PlayStation Store listings reported a 210GB download on PS5, and Eurogamer covered it on October 28. Rockstar has not confirmed that number, and no Xbox size is out yet.
For comparison, GTA V Enhanced uses about 87GB on PS5. So this would be more than double. Preloading is confirmed to start on November 12, a full week early, so you can download it before launch day.
Frame Rate and Graphics: What Is Known
This is where rumors fly, so let’s keep it simple. Reports say Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson told a visiting YouTuber that consoles currently run GTA 6 at 30 frames per second, and that a 60fps option was still being checked. That came second-hand, not from a Rockstar press release.
Rockstar has not confirmed 60fps for PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox. It has also not shared resolution targets. Other 60fps claims online come from leakers, so treat them as rumors.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?
Not officially. Rockstar’s own page lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. But there is fresh news. On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release the PC version in the first three months of 2027, citing four anonymous industry sources. Rockstar did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.
If that is true, it would be a big change. GTA V reached consoles in September 2013 and PC in April 2015, about a year and seven months later. Take-Two’s CEO has also said its games eventually come to all platforms, though he gave no PC date.

Estimated GTA 6 PC Requirements (Not Official)
Since the consoles use 8-core Zen 2 processors and 16GB of memory, PC analysts build their guesses around that. I looked at several public estimates and lined them up. They agree on the big picture: 16GB of RAM is the floor, an SSD is a must, and a recent graphics card with 8GB of video memory is the safe zone.
| Level | Graphics card | Processor | RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum (1080p, low) | RTX 3060 / RX 6700 XT class | Ryzen 5 3600–5600, Core i5-10400–12400F | 16GB | NVMe SSD, ~250GB free |
| Recommended (1080p, high) | RTX 3060 Ti–3070 class | Ryzen 7 5800X, Core i7-10700K | 16–32GB | NVMe SSD |
| High graphics (1440p) | RTX 5070 / RX 9070 XT class | Modern 8-core | 32GB | NVMe SSD |
| Ultra (4K) | RTX 5080 class | Modern 8-core or better | 32GB | Fast NVMe SSD |
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) is a safe bet for the operating system, since Rockstar’s recent PC ports use it. But again: none of this is official. GTA 6 is a new engine push, and Rockstar often asks for more than people expect.
GTA 6 Minimum Requirements for a Gaming Laptop
This is the question many of you are asking, so here is my plain-language take. Laptop graphics chips are weaker than desktop chips with the same name. An RTX 4060 Laptop is not the same as an RTX 4060 desktop card. So you need a bit more headroom.
A sensible starting point
For 1080p and lower settings, I would aim for a laptop with an RTX 3060 or RTX 4060 class chip, 8GB of video memory, a 6 to 8 core processor, 16GB of RAM and an NVMe SSD. For high settings, look at RTX 5070 laptop class and 32GB of RAM.
Quick checklist before you buy or upgrade
Check your RAM first, because many laptops let you upgrade it cheaply. Leave 250GB free on a fast SSD. Keep the laptop plugged in while gaming, since battery mode cuts power. And please wait for official specs before you spend big money. A guess is a poor reason to buy a new machine.
What Players Are Saying
Across gaming news and fan discussion, three worries keep coming up: the huge file size, the possible 30fps limit on consoles, and how long PC players must wait. The early 2027 PC report has cheered a lot of PC fans, though many are staying careful because Rockstar has not said a word. That is a fair way to feel.
What’s Next
Here is what to watch over the coming weeks. Preloading begins on November 12, and launch follows on November 19. After launch, performance reports and patch notes will show how the game really runs on each console. If Rockstar confirms a PC version, official requirements should follow close behind.
